On September 13 for our Writing into the Day assignment we were shown the website "why do you do what you do" or http://wdydwyd.com/ . At first look I wasn't really all that intrigued by it but then after class when I went back to it I realized just how cool the website actually is. The website gives you the option to look at digital pictures of people answering the question of why they do what they do, or you can read blog posts about it, or you can watch videos.....
I just find it really interesting that there is a website solely dedicated to finding out why people do what they do. I was also really intrigued when we were asked the question of Why You Do What You Do? At first I was confused and didn't really have an answer..... I'd never really thought about what it is that makes me do the things I do, whether it be influences from people around me, environmental influences, or just me doing whatever the heck I wanted for no reason..... But when I actually took the time to think about an answer, this is what I came up with.
Why Do You Do What You Do?
-because its who I am.
-because I react
So after thinking about my answers a little deeper I realized that sometimes I do the things I do because I am simply reacting to my surroundings and also because what I do as a person defines who I am......
I really enjoyed this Writing into the Day discussion because I got to learn a little bit more about myself. I find that I'm doing that more and more as I spend more time at college.. I cant wait to find out more about the complex person that is... Cory Stewart!
Peace
Hey Cory! I liked this website too. It also got me thinking about why I do what I do, from the every day things like brushing teeth to the goals I've set for myself. I think its good to analyze the motives behind what we do, and allow that realization to assist in our decision making. We'd be much wiser if we did! I also agree that college helps to figure out who we are; it certainly has for me! Have fun discovering who you are!
ReplyDeleteHey Cory. After taking a look at the website and reading your blog post, it really made me think about why I do what I do. I have never thought about it much before until now. I sometimes act the way I do because of what I am surrounded by and I think that that shapes you into what you do. Where you live, what friends you hang out with, what music you listen to, and how you were raised is part of why you do what you do as well. I also think that in college you find a lot more about who you are as a person and I am excited about it!

Cory, thanks for taking the time to think through your thoughts on the blog and your writing into the day. I think the idea of reaction is really interesting and one that you might unravel more. I wonder if will come into play in your literacy narrative?
ReplyDeleteHey Cory! I thought too liked the website. I thought that it had a lot random things and it was pretty cool. In your post titled "WDYDWYD", I was interested in asking why did you choose the answer you chose or how did you determine your answer?
ReplyDeleteCory, I also enjoyed looking through the website. It was so interesting to read what motivates others. Your answer to WDYDWYD grabbed my attention immediately. Reaction is so different than any other response I found. It's true that all of us react differently in certain situations, resulting in different outcomes. It's all about in the moment decisions and what you're feeling.
ReplyDeleteI think you are right when you say you just react to your surroundings. Sometimes we have no control over what is happening and we just have to go with the flow. Now i have to say we cant use this as an excuse all the time to try and get out of trouble.
ReplyDeleteMan, It's always good to just meditate and think on who you are and what you're purposed to do in life. By either reaction, like you said, or pure self motication, we can figure out why we do what we do and keep on doing what we do.
